Whether you’re looking to discover game shooting for the first time or want to perfect your skills as a seasoned gun, simulated clay days are a quintessentially British day out for all to enjoy.
With open expanses of parkland alongside woodland, secluded clearings and striking views across the lake, the grounds of Englefield House are an ideal location for clay shoots.
Just 35 miles from London, visitors can escape the hectic day-to-day life for a day in the stunning West Berkshire countryside. One such company running simulated shooting events at Englefield is the Royal Berkshire Shooting School (RBSS).
Englefield Estate is one of only a few venues used by the RBSS for their clay shoot days, which can be tailored for groups of 16+ to larger scale events, including charity shoots. Clay shoots are ideal for those looking for a corporate day out, staff team-building, a celebration or day’s entertainment.
Hosted by a team of experts, guns enjoy the very best in simulated wood pigeon, duck and pheasant shooting. The RBSS caters for novice guns through to seasoned professionals.
Starting with breakfast in the magnificent house, all guests receive a full and comprehensive safety briefing before heading to the first shoot location. Four drives are usually completed throughout the day; two to ‘get your eye’ before a competition for the title of “Top Gun”, followed by a final shoot of the day. A favourite at the Englefield Estate is the ‘duck drive’ shoot over the lake.
Throughout the day, guests can expect to shoot between 350 to 550 cartridges.
Heading back to Englefield House once clay shooting has concluded, guests can enjoy drinks on the terrace with impressive views over the Deer Park before an opulent lunch in the dining room.
Peter Carson, House and Events Manager at Englefield Estate, explained: “The grounds surrounding Englefield House are perfect for clay shoots, Englefield House provides a stunning backdrop to a packed day of field sports. We work closely with companies such as the Royal Berkshire Shooting School to offer a spectacular day out for guests.”
