The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme is designed to support the artistic development of talented singers at the beginning of their career. Young Artists are employed by the Royal Opera House for two years as they immerse themselves in the world of opera and find their own artistic identity. Young artists participate in specially-tailored programmes, which include extensive daily coaching in languages, stagecraft and vocal techniques, alongside preparing cover roles and performing concerts and roles on the main stage.‘Young’ Artist is in a way a misnomer, they may be at the start of their careers, but they are neither fresh out of school nor inexperienced. All have worked with professional companies and have completed a college degree. They could easily make their way in a career outside of the Programme, but have come to the Royal Opera House in order to refine their skills.
