Phyllis Court Club is delighted to announce that SODC has approved the planning application for ‘The Fitness Centre’.
Chairman of Phyllis Court Patricia Christmas, said ‘we have been anticipating this news for a while, and are very pleased that they have given an unconditional approval for us to proceed. The next steps are to finalise the finances, sign the design and build contractors and start the more visible work in the coming months. We hope to open the Fitness Centre in mid 2018. I would like to thank the team who have worked tirelessly in preparing the planning application and achieving this outcome’.
The Fitness Centre will include a 20m swimming pool, a saunarium, gym and exercise studio, for all Members and will have extensive changing facilities, for use by the rowing, canoe and kayak, tennis club Interest Groups in Phyllis Court.
The Planning Application was submitted on 27th February and following extensive consultation and approval from many departments in the Environmental Agency, and SODC (Conservation, Archaeological, Leisure, Drainage, Forestry, Health and Housing Services) and the Henley Town Council, the application was thoroughly reviewed.
The Club has completed the refurbishment of the 4 tennis courts – the project which was the precursor to the building of the Fitness Centre, as the courts need to be moved to free up the site for the new facility.
Chairman of Phyllis Court Patricia Christmas, said ‘this is an exciting time, we are pleased to have created these courts with the most advanced synthetic tennis surface on the market; Savanna. The surface will provide an excellent surface for our tennis playing Members to enjoy. We will be arranging the official opening later this year’.
Membership of Phyllis Court is increasing as local residents see the development progressing, and the Club will soon be setting a waiting list.
